Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “My previous Rove dash cam lasted about 5 years, and it was a hard 5 years for it. I only used the window suction cup thing to attach to the windshield so it wasn’t “permanent,” and it was always flying off, rightfully so, when it was too hot/cold/bumpy… so it took a LOT of abuse, smashing against my doors/dash. I was content with how long it lasted – I don’t expect any tech devices to last longer than 5 years at this point. Given I had a good experience with that one, I decided to upgrade to a new Rove dash cam.Enter the Rove R2-4K Dual. I figured it would be cool to have the rear view as well this time around. Picture is nice, setup is very quick and easy. The app is definitely an improvement over the last one on my older Rove dash cam. The price point is great for someone looking to get a decent quality dash cam for some added protection.I started having issues with screen flashing and then startup issues, where it wouldn’t load the picture and just get stuck on the home/loading screen with the Rove logo. It was spotty and fixed itself, so I just kept chugging along. After a few months, it was a daily occurrence… the troubleshooting I found online didn’t fix it, so I reached out to Rove. The customer support was very quick to respond, very thorough, and very easy to troubleshoot with. I did everything they asked, but was still having issues. Since it was most likely an internal issue, they replaced my unit with a new one! I appreciate the responsiveness of the support team, and the fact that they stand by their product means a lot.Even though I had an issue, I would still recommend this product. Manufacturing issues happen. Software issues happen. Hardware issues happen. That’s just life with all of our disposable gadgets… BUT I give Rove a lot of credit for providing the support that they do and for standing behind their product to resolve issues like this. I have had zero issues so far with the new unit, and hopefully we stay that way! I haven’t experienced any flashing or startup issues, so I think this one is good to go. There would have been signs by now.”

Customer Review: “I recently installed a video dashcam, and it has been one of the best upgrades I’ve made to my vehicle. The video quality is excellent—clear during both daytime and nighttime driving—making it easy to capture license plates and important details on the road. The setup was quick and straightforward, and the camera mounts securely without obstructing my view. I also appreciate how seamlessly it starts recording automatically when I turn on the car, so I never have to worry about missing anything. Overall, I highly recommend investing in a dashcam. It’s reliable, easy to use, and provides valuable protection for everyday driving.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “We purchased the F7N Redtiger camera about 18 months ago and it has now paid for itself 100x over when it provided evidence to the police and insurance that my wife was not the one at fault in an accident that totaled her vehicle and the other party lied to the police. My wife was going to get the ticket after the officer talked to the other party first, but she was able to show the officer the cam video and they reversed course and issued the ticket to the other party. Then the other party lied to their insurance, but after providing the video to their insurance, the adjuster immediately accepted 100% responsibility.Easy to install and with clearly written English instructions. Great suction cup with integrated GPS antenna makes installation a breeze. Cam will slide off mount if you want to hide it while parked without removing the entire mount. Crystal clear video, front at 4k and back at 2k, produce high resolution video where you can read license plates and even identify who was driving another vehicle.Even more importantly, it has a good app that you can use to directly download video from the cam without pulling the card and taking it to a computer. Just in case you are in an accident, you can instantly download the relevant video to your phone and show to Law Enforcement and e-mail to your insurance company. This is hugely important so a ticket can be issued to the at-fault party on scene as my wife did. If you can’t show the officer when writing the report, they may issue the ticket to the wrong party or no one if they can’t figure out who was at fault. If this happens, it’s a long up-hill battle to get the other party’s insurance to pay out and the police will never cancel an incorrectly issued ticket, so it forces you to go to court to defend yourself. If you are in a serious accident (if anyone goes to the hospital, it’s serious), the officer may confiscate the SD card or even the whole camera for evidence. You may not get it back for weeks or even months. Sometimes they get lost an then you have nothing. Have a copy safely on your phone so you can give it to your insurance company and lawyer immediately!”

Customer Review: “For me not knowing what dashcam to get, I think this was a great choice. The small capacity SD card is a letdown but for what you’re paying, it works great. Not cheap, not overpriced. It has come in handy quite a few times. Easy plug in and just suction mount to the window. Great video quality too, it helped my local police locate a stolen vehicle. And no need to worry if you live in cold areas cause it got down to -20°F here and the camera had no issues.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “My wife and I just purchased a new car, so investing in a dash cam was a must. This one certainly gives the most for the price. The front, cabin, and rear cameras are all crystal clear, and the bonus of GPS monitoring and speed tracking makes this camera perfect for what we need. There is plenty of space on the SD card, and being able to connect to the camera via wifi to view and save files makes things very simple. Installation was a breeze; I just plugged into the 12V car outlet and ran the cable through the bottom of the dash and up the A-pillar. The camera just suctions to the windshield, so it can be easily moved if needed. This camera supports the parking mode, but you would need to hardwire it into the car’s wiring, and I opted not to do that at the moment. Overall, I think this camera is great and gives me a little more peace of mind when on the road.”

Customer Review: “The dashcam is of excellent overall quality, and the simultaneous recording via three channels provides peace of mind. The image is clear, the colors are natural, and the recording is stable while driving. It performs well at night and in rainy weather. Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I wanted a dash cam that was easy to set up, didn’t require a lot of fiddling, and would give me good evidence if someone hit me. The COOLCRAZY fit the bill. Why I chose this one over others:GPS was a must for me: A few years ago, I was in a minor accident where the other driver claimed I ran a stop sign. I didn’t have a dash cam at all, so it was my word against his. My insurance paid out, and my rates went up. This time, I wanted GPS stamping so there would be no question about speed or location. The COOLCRAZY’s GPS locks on quickly (about 20‑30 seconds after starting the car), and the speed and coordinates are burned right into the video.Included 128GB card – no hassle: I’m on a fixed income, so saving $30‑40 on a memory card matters to me. The camera came with a 128GB card already installed, and I didn’t have to buy anything extra. I’ve been using it for a month, and the card has been reliable – no corruption or errors. The camera loops automatically, so I never have to delete files manually.Sony STARVIS 4K – clearer than I expected: I’m not a video expert, but I can tell the difference between this and my neighbor’s budget dash cam. The footage is sharp, and I can read license plates without zooming in. At night, it’s surprisingly good – I drove through a poorly lit parking lot last week, and the video still showed the lines on the pavement and the numbers on the spaces. The screen shows me it’s working: This sounds basic, but it’s important. The screen has a red dot that blinks when recording. I glance at it every time I start the car. If I ever see it not blinking, I’ll know something is wrong. With a screenless dash cam, you might drive for weeks without realizing it stopped recording.A few downsides – none are dealbreakers:The outer shipping box had a small tear, but the product box was in perfect shape. The camera itself had no damage at all. The seller’s packaging is good – foam inserts and a sturdy inner box.Final thoughts: This is a straightforward, well‑built dash cam. It doesn’t have gimmicks or unnecessary features. The GPS, included 128GB storage, and Sony 4K sensor are the main reasons I bought it, and they all work as promised. If you want a reliable camera that won’t nickel‑and‑dime you for a memory card, the COOLCRAZY is a smart buy.”

Customer Review: “I got this camera for my truck to record any possible instances of road insanity while taking a trip from NC to CT.Luckily I didn’t have to utilize it for its intended purpose, but I’m glad I had it…just in case. The camera has a touch screen and is always on and recording, as long as it has power. So as soon as you turn on your vehicle, it’s up and running. That’s nice because you don’t have to make sure to push this or that button. Truly a plug and play device. It records on a loop and when the included SD card fills up it automatically overwrites the oldest video with the newest recording. The screen comes on if you touch it, but blacks out after a predetermined time that you can adjust. This is important so the driver doesn’t get distracted by a small video screen instead of keeping their eyes on the road ahead. There is an app you can download that allows one to watch videos on a phone or tablet as well and pairing the camera with those devices is simple and straightforward. The image it records is pretty clear and focused for such a small and really, inexpensive device. I was pleasantly surprised with this.It came packaged in a nice box with instructions that are pretty thorough. I like to play around with gadgets anyway, so I had it figured out pretty quickly. The windows suction cup works good too. Bumps, potholes, railroad crossings…mine has been on my windows since mid December 2025 through the end of February 2026 as of this writing. Sun, heat, cold, moisture…none of these have affected it staying put on my windshield. This is my first camera like this. I think it’s a good value for the money and possibly eases worries when driving on what seems to be a racing circuit sometimes. I’m pleased with my purchase and can recommend it to other drivers.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Purchased with the hardwire kit and CPL lens filter. Watched multiple YouTube videos on the install. Watch the bad ones as well just to get an idea of how NOT to do the install. After preparing myself, tackled the install over the weekend. Easiest part was installing the back camera. My Hyundai Santa FE SEL has a hatchback, and for most that was their hardest part. I guess the videos helped me prepare. The rear camera was installed in less than an hour. Plenty of cable, routed along the top down the passenger side. The harder part was finding the right place to plug the hardware kit for power. Key points (1) install the ground wire first, (2) install the battery wire on a fuse (or empty) spot that is always on, the battery voltage will read on the display box on the adapter, (3) install the other on another fuse preferably for ACC (needs to be OFF when car is off and ON when the car is on), when you get this one attached start the car and verify the box display changes to say ACC on the display instead of the battery voltage. Then route the power wires to the camera and the rear camera connections to the dashcam. The video is great when playing from a computer. 4K all around and the player you get from the website even has a ZOOM feature. I started using the 12-hour time-laps recordings, this takes up a lot of memory on the card so you only get about 2 days for the 128G card they supply. I’ve switched to just using the G-sensors now to turn on when it detects motion (jarring), and record as I am driving.Overall happy with my purchase, there are a few things I wish it had: (1) ability to adjust the delay between frames for the time-lapse feature would make it better at not using a lot of memory, (2) my model seems to record the front and rear with slightly different numbers at the end and the player doesn’t know how to sync up the timestamps in the video when playing back (for the time being I can rename the rear to end in the same numbers as the front to fix), and (3) the manuals are very light on content only explains the features by name but doesn’t go into detail what they mean… example they talk about the G-sensor with settings for Off/Low/Medium/High but don’t describe which is more sensitive… in some languages Low translates to higher sensitivity to movement. Also the instructions on the video player for the computer is very light in content even the phone app has huge untapped potential. With it you can see real-time your path on a map and the video sent to your phone while driving. Could be expanded to supply directions.Great product overall… may update later with more details as I try and research all the features.Even better support! Their people are on top and respond quickly to try and answer your questions. If I wasn’t such a computer geek I’d probably have a lot more questions.”

Customer Review: “Easy to install. Great image/video quality. Installed on my girlfriend’s car. Used the OBD power adapter which really makes a difference for 24 hr coverage. Camera already paid for itself. Used cam footage to correct police report in accident that totaled her car. So glad we had this. -Only negative is I wish the camera downloading was more easily accessible and the replay software was a bit more user friendly.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. This camera is clear and it is easy to use once you get to know what each button does. I sat down and read the book that came with it way before using it so that I could get a good understanding of everything. The video provided is at default settings, so I haven’t even set it to 4K yet and it is this clear. I do recommend the 128 Samsung 10 class u3 SD card for it as it records without freezing. I haven’t had any problems, but if I do, I will post an update. So far so good though.I can’t comment on the app yet because I haven’t used it, but when I do I will update. Also, I haven’t used the player yet either, but I did download it for Mac, so it is Mac and PC compatible. Once I use these features, I will update again.Update (2/15/2019): I finally used the app and it seemed to work well for me. It was very easy to connect to and I was able to see my videos. I can’t figure out how to use the player though. I thought if I insert the sd card to my computer, it would read from the video player and show me the data, but that wasn’t the case. If anyone figures out how to do this, please let me know. Also, I have integrated the camera into my video, meaning that I bought a kit so that I could plug it into the fuse box for a direct power source. I like the fact that it was easy to do and it now turns off the minute that the vehicle is turned off. The only time it will turn back on is if you have parking mode on, but it shuts off about 3 minutes after it has recorded an impact while parked ( i tested it by shaking my vehicle, I did not get hit). When I turned my vehicle back on, it spoke to me and said, “parking mode was activated,” so I knew right away that I needed to check what happened (of course, this was only a test though). Anyway, so far so good and the video is fantastic. When I learn to work with the player, I will update again. :)Update (12-18-2019) So I figured out everything and so far so good. I ended up buying another one because my son wanted one just like it. He loved how easy it was and the updates that Rove puts out for the cam. They also contacted us when we ordered it. They just said that if we needed anything they would be more than happy to speak to us over the phone with a live agent. What a live agent! They were very nice. I have not had a problem with this cam at all and I do recommend it to others. I just saw that they are having a sale on their website for it, so I might buy another one for my husband. Can you say Christmas gift 🙂 They have a 25% off code on the website. I believe it is ROVEVIP25 to get 25% off. Anyway, this is a great dashcam and I couldn’t have asked for more. I am a loyal customer!”

Customer Review: “i’m writing this review on my literal day 1 of owning the camera and only just now finished installing it in my car. (the pic attached is from when i had JUST turned it on while i was in the passenger seat and was still fiddling with the angle. I also blocked out the location coordinates, but thats something you can toggle off in the settings as well)the setup is simple. there are tons of quick short videos to help guide you on how you might want to tuck away the wiring. you just plug it into the car charging socket (you can also hard wire it into your car if you’re knowledgeable and comfortable doing so)i read the booklet that came with it. a lot of useful info in it. Tons of features and settings you can use to customize it to what suits you best.i like that it has ‘parking mode’ which means the camera will automatically turn on and record for a bit if it detects a sudden impact/movement while the car is parked (and while you are presumably away). i experienced ended up testing this while i was carrying the dashcam with my hands full. i accidentally dropped the camera, and even though it was off, it suddenly turned on and stating something along the lines of “parking mode has been activated”. It started recording, but since i didn’t fully charge it at the time, it only stayed on for a few seconds (which is normal for these type of dash cams. The manual states that the camera typically should be able to sustain a recording of 3-5 minutes on a fully charged battery).I also tried the app. it lets you view/download your footage in real-time by connecting to the dashcam’s built-in wifi. i HIGHLY recommend downloading the newer beta app (which currently has an all orange UI. the old app hasn’t been updated since 2019 and had tons of negative feedback, so i didn’t even bother with that).I think the app is a nice benefit. It’s nice if you need to quickly share a photo or footage of what just happened on the road, but you don’t have the time or ability to connect the dashcam to a computer or other device. and you do this by connecting to the dashcam’s BUILT-IN wifi. you don’t have to do anything special or complicated to set it up. it’s pretty self explanatory. BTW If you have any trouble connecting to the app, you might have to disable mobile data on your phone to properly connect).I’ll be sure to update this review if anything comes up that greatly impacts my impression on the product, but so far i’m satisfied. I’ll be sure to take care of this one (my last dashcam stopped functioning properly because i would leave it in the car 24/7, even during extreme summer heat or extreme winter cold).===EDIT 4-10-22===i’ve owned this for a few weeks now. I recently decided to hook it up to my pc to check on the videos, just to make sure video/audio were being captured properly and that there were no issues. i was pretty horrified at first to see that the videos seemed really glitchy/choppy. it was practically unwatchable!i did some quick googling and saw some people suggest it could be the framerate/resolution that it’s recording in. and then i remembered that the instruction manual mentioned using a decent video player- specifically something like VLC.so that’s what i did. I already use VLC for other things on my pc, so i opened some videos in it. no more choppy/jittery video! everything was smooth and amazing! So, in short, if you’re noticing that your videos appear choppy and strange i’d suggest either playing back your videos in something like VLC and NOT your basic windows media player. It’d also be worth it to maybe try lowering the camera’s FPS/resolution settings if that still doesn’t work for you (Although I would say lowering the quality should probably be a last resort… since, you know, the whole point of a dashcam is so that you can capture everything on the road in perfect quality)the only gripe i have now is that the dashcam itself seems to slightly shake/jitter when driving at certain speeds/roads. I think this is a result of the cars vibrations. I’ll try to see if this’ll be fixed by tightening the mount or repositioning it a little. it’s possible that we just didn’t have it locked in properly (I haven’t been the one personally driving with the webcam lately. So maybe my family members flubbed on that)It’s nothing too crazy, though.Still happy with this device!==final edit 7-21-22===it’s been 4 months since i owned it and its STILL incrediblei’ve even connected to it to share a clip of a dicey moment i had on the highway! (i did this by connecting to my pc. the app is still an amazing option to connect remotely/on the spot, but i was already at my pc anyways)i wanted to take a moment to commend their support team as well. i recently contacted support because i somehow managed to push the power button in so far that it got stuck. i was surprised that this happened! this made it difficult to turn the camera on/off at will. i contacted their support team directly after finding their email on their website. i described the issue, provided picture evidence & proof of purchase, then they were able to process a replacement as it was still under warranty! the entire process is smooth and hasslefree. it didnt take very long at all for the replacement to come in. i customized the settings and took some video footage + photos as a test. Everything was perfect.I didn’t have to wait long at all for their replies/solution (something i was extremely wary of after dealing with support teams from other products/services)Anyways, I support this brand/small team VERY much! I think its VERY important to have a dashcam. Even if u don’t feel comfortable hot-wiring or whatever, i feel that even a USB/car charger-type of cam is better than nothing– like i said, i’ve already reviewed & shared footage to friends & family at least once after having a spooky moment on the highway. It’s not only good for urself, but others as well. U never kno wat could happen. Video doesnt lie. ur footage/photos could do a lot to help u or even a stranger if u ever come across a sticky situation.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “As a driver, I need a camera that captures the inside of my car clearly, and this is the first one I’ve found that does full color at night instead of that grainy infrared look. The 4K front camera is incredibly sharp for picking out license plates, and the setup was very straightforward. One of my favorite features is the voice control; being able to say “lock video” without taking my hands off the wheel is essential for safety. The included 128GB card and hardwire kit make it a complete package right out of the box. The only minor gripe is that the unit runs a bit warm after a long shift, but it hasn’t affected performance so far.”

Customer Review: “Was originally going to return this because the original cigarette lighter charger wasn’t compatible with my bmw x6 for some reason. It wouldn’t put out power when plugged in. I ended up reaching out to RedTigers customer service over email about my issue. They were not only super quick to respond, but sent me the right adapter with a USB-A port instead promptly. 10/10 fast customer service/support team. Very happy with them. The camera itself so far is great.Keep in mind that the display does turn off after about 3 mins when driving to extend the devices lifespan and prevent overheating. App works great and smoothly. Resolution is good from what I’ve seen so far. The camera itself is touch screen.”

Complete Buying Guide for Best Dash Cam For Truckers

Choosing the best dash cam for truckers involves more than just picking the first one you see. The demanding nature of trucking means your dash cam needs to be robust, reliable, and equipped with specific features to meet your unique needs. Let’s break down the essential factors to consider.

Essential Factors We Consider

When you’re out on the road, your dash cam is your primary witness. Here’s what we look for:

  • Number of Channels: For truckers, a single front-facing camera might not be enough. Multi-channel dash cams (2, 3, or even 4 channels) offer front, rear, and interior cabin recording. This is crucial for monitoring cargo, driver behavior, and protecting against incidents from all sides. Many fleet managers find interior and rear cameras invaluable.
  • Video Resolution and Clarity: Look for at least 1080P Full HD, but 4K Ultra HD is strongly recommended, especially for the front camera. Higher resolution means clearer images, making it easier to read license plates and identify critical details during an incident. Night vision capabilities, often enhanced by technologies like Sony STARVIS sensors and WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), are also paramount for clear footage in low-light conditions.
  • Storage and Loop Recording: Truckers spend long hours driving, so continuous recording is essential. Dash cams use loop recording to overwrite the oldest files when the memory card is full. Ensure the camera supports a large capacity SD card (128GB or more is ideal) and includes one if possible. High-endurance cards are best for prolonged use.
  • Reliability and Durability: Truck cabins can experience extreme temperature fluctuations. A good dash cam for truckers must be built to withstand these conditions. Look for devices designed with high-quality components and reliable mounting solutions that won’t fall off on bumpy roads.
  • GPS and WiFi Connectivity: Built-in GPS records your speed and location, providing undeniable evidence of your route and driving parameters. WiFi allows for easy transfer of footage to your smartphone via an app, which can be a lifesaver for quickly reviewing or sharing clips with law enforcement or insurance companies on the spot.
  • Parking Mode: This feature keeps your truck protected even when you’re away. Whether it’s motion-activated or triggered by a G-sensor (impact detection), parking mode can record bumps, hit-and-runs, or suspicious activity, offering valuable security for your parked rig. Most parking modes require a hardwire kit to ensure continuous power without draining your main battery.
  • Wide Viewing Angle: A wide lens (150-170 degrees) helps capture more of the road and surrounding areas, reducing blind spots.

Budget Planning

Investing in a high-quality dash cam for truckers is an investment in your safety and livelihood. Prices can range from around $100 for basic dual-channel models to $400+ for advanced 3- and 4-channel systems with premium features. Consider your specific needs: if you primarily need front-facing evidence, a high-quality single 4K camera might suffice. However, for comprehensive fleet management or if you frequently carry valuable cargo, a multi-channel system with advanced parking modes will offer better value in the long run. Don’t compromise on resolution and night vision, as these are critical for clear evidence.

Final Thoughts

A reliable dash cam for truckers is more than just a camera; it’s a vital piece of equipment that offers invaluable protection and accountability. By focusing on multi-channel capabilities, high resolution, robust night vision, and essential connectivity features like GPS and WiFi, you can find a device that perfectly suits the demanding environment of commercial trucking. Review our top picks and their features to find the one that provides you with the ultimate peace of mind on every journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do truckers need a dash cam?

A: Truckers face unique challenges on the road, from long hours and varied conditions to potential false accusations in accidents. A dash cam for truckers provides irrefutable video evidence, protecting them from fraudulent claims, assisting with insurance reports, documenting road hazards, and even deterring theft or vandalism while parked. It’s an essential tool for safety and legal protection.

Q: What resolution is best for a truck dash cam?

A: For a truck dash cam, 4K Ultra HD (2160P) is highly recommended for the front camera to ensure maximum detail, making license plates and faces clearly legible. For interior and rear cameras, 1080P Full HD (1920P) or 2.5K (1440P) is generally sufficient, offering a good balance of clarity and file size management.

Q: Should I get a single or multi-channel dash cam for my truck?

A: For most truckers, a multi-channel dash cam is the best dash cam for truckers choice. A dual-channel (front and rear) setup is a good minimum, but a 3-channel (front, interior, and rear) or even 4-channel system offers comprehensive surveillance. This is particularly useful for monitoring the truck’s exterior, interior cabin (driver behavior, cargo security), and potential incidents from all angles, providing far greater peace of mind and protection.

Q: How important is night vision for truckers?

A: Night vision is extremely important for truckers, who often drive in low-light conditions or through rural areas. Features like Sony STARVIS sensors, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), and infrared (IR) lights significantly enhance a dash cam’s ability to capture clear and detailed footage at night, which is crucial for accident reconstruction and identifying details in the dark.

Q: Do truck dash cams include GPS?

A: Most modern dash cam for truckers models include built-in GPS. This feature is vital as it accurately records your vehicle’s speed, location, and driving route. This data can be time-stamped onto your video footage, providing verifiable proof of your position and speed, which is incredibly valuable in legal disputes or insurance claims.
